The Merlin Entertainments London Eye
Overview
Its a rite of passage for tourists and Londoners alike. In fact, the London Eye ferris wheel is one of few London tourist attractions that even the residents flock to experience.
What's Included
The London Eye hasn’t been on the south bank of the Thames for long (it launched in 2000) but already it has transformed the skyline – not to mention the postcard industry. Climbing aboard is a way of becoming a part of the London skyline. Lounge in the central seating area of your “pod”, or stand by the glass enclosure and take advantage of a vista that expands as you get higher. With 360-degree views, you will have spectacular panoramic views of London and its famous landmarks such as Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square.
Spires, towers and bridges are marked on information panels in every pod. The largest – and, therefore, the least vertigo-inducing – ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye is also the slowest. So the weak of heart are more than welcome.
NEW FOR 2009 - The London Eye 4D - The perfect prelude to a flight on The Eye. The London Eye 4D is a groundbreaking 3D film with in theatre effects, such as wind, bubbles and mist to make it 4D. The film is a story of a little girl in London with her father. Her view of famous London landmarks is obscured by people and traffic, but a seagull draws her attention to the London Eye and her father takes her for a flight; finally she has an amazing view of the city. Colorful parties inside the capsule, time lapse of The Eye day and night and a spectacular firework display all add up to an emotional and entertaining experience.
