Class Types
Choose which class you would like to travel in - First Class or Standard Class:
1. First Class has larger seats, more space both for you and your baggage.
2. First Class carriages are usually less crowded and have picture windows.
3. On many routes First Class offers extras, including free tea and coffee. Some routes even offer free snacks and newspapers. Certain long haul routes have table or buffet services. It is normally very good and comparable to airline 'Business Class'.
4. The decor and ambience is very pleasant - frequently leaving one disappointed that the train has arrived.
5. Most commuter routes radiating from the big cities have First Class accommodation. Here the benefit is space on busy rush hour trains.
6. First Class is always at the London end of the platform (i.e. no long walk at the London terminal!)
Pass Types
Choose between a Flexi Pass or a Consecutive Day Pass
For most travellers, a Flexi Pass offers the convenience of not being on the move every day, allowing you to stay a few days in one place to visit friends and family or explore a region in depth. BritRail Britain (England, Scotland & Wales) and BritRail England Flexi Passes are valid for 2 months from the first date of travel.
If you are only going to be travelling from London around the South East of England then the London Plus Pass is a great affordable option. This pass is ideal for anyone wanting to do a few day tours from London.
If you are only visiting Scotland then you may want to look at purchasing the Scottish Freedom Pass which allows you to travel all over Scotland. The pass also includes ferries to various Islands and buses to explore sites off the beaten path.
There is also the BritRail Central Scotland Pass which allows travellers to explore Scotland's Central belt and visit cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow & Stirling. The pass also allows unlimited travel on the Glasgow Underground.
